NOTICE TO CONSUMERS – MOUND CITY WATER SUPPLY
BOIL ADVISORY
Effective June 8, 2020 8:00 a.m. – June 11, 2020 3:00 p.m.
The Mound City Water Department had to shut down a water main for water main break. The work will affect the following areas: 6TH STREET TO NEBRASKA STREET AND SOUTH; ALL OF RT E; STATE STREET
Those affected could experience either low or no water service. This should last for no more than a few hours but if you experience either, you should observe the following precautions required under a boil advisory:
- Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations or consumption.
- Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.
- Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
- Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing or using backyard pools so water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
NOTE: LET WATER COOL SUFFICIENTLY BEFORE DRINKING.
The boil advisory will remain in effect until the June 11, 2020. You will be advised by notice posted on your door if the boil advisory is EXTENDED beyond June 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. For more information call Randy Crowley @ 442-5811 or City Hall @ 442-3447.
